Ermin Tkalec, acclaimed pianist based in London was born to a musical family. He later studied at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in the class of emeritus prof. Dubravka Tomsic – Srebotnjak (who was student of great Arthur Rubinstein), in Vienna (Universität für Musik und Kunst Wien darstellende) in the class of Prof. Martin Hughes and at the Royal College of Music London in classes of prof. Norma Fisher, prof. Peter Jablonski and finally completed Artist diploma with Prof. Sofya Gulyak as scholar.
He has won top prizes at national and international competitions. He was upgrading his skills and artistic understanding with many great artists of our time: Ruben Dalibaltayan, Jasminka Stančul, Grigorij Gruzman, Marianna Shirinyan and others. In 2010, the great inventor of Fazioli pianos (Mr. Paolo Fazioli) got impressed by Ermin`s performances and expressed great interest of hearing more of him in the future. Ermin successfully performed recitals, as a soloist with the Orchestra presented with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Ballet High School Ljubljana, Celje String Orchestra, Slovenian National Opera Ljubljana and as pianist with various soloists and larger ensembles. He is also associated with other musicians and composers, and is actively performing also their new works. He appeared at many venues including Royal Opera House, Chelsea Arts Club and other venues around London, RTV Slovenia, the Town Hall Ljubljana, the Slovenian Philharmonic, Cankarjev Dom Ljubljana, Festival Lent (Maribor), Festival Arsana (Ptuj), in Zagreb and Pag, the festival of Janus (Maribor), Karlskrona (Sweden), Hvide Sande (Denmark), Wimbledon International Music Festival, Le Petit Festival (Dubrovnik) and the Crystal Hall in Rogaska Slatina with violinist Teofil Milenković. For his achievements he received the Prešeren Award of the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. Ermin was also invited to give lectures as a visiting Professor at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama London. In 2018 he performed for HRH Prince Edward The Earl of Wessex and also with LSO Principal cellist and great artist David Cohen.
His work was generously supported by Steklarna Rogaška Crystal factory, Ministry of Culture Slovenia and Royal College of Music.
In addition to his pianistic career, Ermin runs a very successful PIANO CLASS. His teaching philosophy is centred around inspiring a love for music and instrument while also developing strong technical skills. He tailors his approach strategically and specially to each individual student's needs and interests to help them achieve their goals and reach their full potential. This results in fully engaged and inspired musicians averaging Distinction marks on ABRSM exams, and also participating on competitions where always awarded top 3 places + receiving scholarships of prestigious institutions.
